The Mississippi Delta
Lyon,Ms & Clarksdale,Ms &
Cleveland,Ms & Drew,Ms
April 20-22

We left Jackson,Ms Late Friday Afternoon when my mom got home from work and headed out to the delta. We got to Lyon and saw Brian & Sara's New House and then we headed out to eat Dinner at Stone Pony in Downtown Clarksdale late friday night and didn't get back to Brian and Sara's House til 9:30pm. we Road around and saw the place where Brian is working now, KBH.

We saw all of the Great Things Happening in Clarksdale and in Downtown Clarksdale such as all these new Restaurant's opening up such as Hey Joe's & Lady On The Levee & Ramone's & Stony Pony & Rust & Yazoo Pass & Ground Zero and all the shops in DownTown Clarksdale are now all nice places to shop. every shop has something in it now. Oh and We saw A Limo sitting at Ground Zero so we Figured Morgan Freeman was probably there.

SO MUCH HAS CHANGED IN 12 YEARS TIME. CLARKSDALE,MS IS NOW A HAPPENING PLACE!!!!!! SUCH GREAT NEWS TO HEAR ABOUT CLARKSDALE,MS TURN AROUND IN 12 YEARS TIME!!! IT IS GREAT TO SEE CLARKSDALE GROWING AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. THIS IS QUIT THE TURN AROUND FOR CLARKSDALE.

When I was living in Clarksdale for 14 Years, the only Restaurant's that exsisted in Clarksdale were Western Sizzlin & Abe's & The Ranchero & Atzimba & Pizza Hut. Western Sizzlin & The Ranchero were the places to eat back then. After Summer Basesball & Softball Games everybody went to Western Sizzlin. The Hang out on Friday Night's was The LeeAcademy Highschool Football Games. For Something to do when there wasn't a football game at LeeAcademy, you went Bowling at The Bowling Alley or you drove an hour to Memphis & Southaven to go to a movie & Go out to eat some where nice & go shopping That's all there was to do back then. Sometimes you would go to Helena to go to Sams. A lot of Times Oakhurst Baptist Church would open the CAC- Christian Activity Center on Friday Night and that kept kids out of trouble, because they could skate and play basketball on the gym floor and play Pool & the kitchen would be open to get something to eat, somebody was always working in the kitchen cooking food.

On Sunday's everyone was in Church weather they went to Oakhurst Baptist Church or Clarksdale Baptist regardless you were in church, if you were late to church, everyone knew about it. You went to Sunday School & Then Big Church or if you had little ones they went to down front during big church when it was time for the little ones to head over to the nursey. On Wednesday Nights You went to Youth Group & GA's - Girls In Action & RA's & Mission Friends and then you went over to the CAC and waited for your parents to come and get you. If you were apart of Hand Bells you went to practice Hand Bells before Youth Group  Mission Friends & RA's & GA's.

Thing's have changed DRASTICALLY!!!!! Now Everybody hangs out in Downtown Clarksdale eating at the new restaurants. Now One of The Top Places to go eat in Downtown Clarksdale is Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero. I heard this weekend Attendance is Way Down at Oakhurst Baptist church now compared to the attendance 12 years ago and the 14 years that I Lived in Clarksdale & The 14 Years that I attended Oakhurst Baptist Church. Some Scenes from The Movie The Help were filmed in Clarksdale at Wongs FoodLand and there is a Scene that was filmed in Downtown Clarksdale. A Few Months Ago The Show American Pickers was in Downtown Clarksdale Filming at Bubba Okeefe's Museum.

Western Sizzlin is now gone but it's going to come back bigger than ever and it's going to be have a different name and it's going to be a buffett place just like Western Sizzlin was. We saw Mr.Bubba Okeefe's Museum where American Pickers filmed a few months ago. There is also now a SeaFood Restaurant by Walmart now there in Clarksdale. There is an Oriental Rug Store right next door to Rust which is owned by the parents of one of my former classmates at PDS & LeeAcademy.

We made a day saturday of our delta adventure weekend. We went to mccarties early Saturday morning and then on to the Warehouse in Cleveland for lunch and then shopped in DownTown cleveland and then went to visit my uncle William McDonald in Drew and then came back to Lyon and my uncle William and Gloria came to see my brothers new house and then we went out to eat for dinner at Rust in DownTown Clarksdale. so we had an adventurous day Saturday. We got in from eating in Downtown Clarksdale at Rust with Skeeszie & Gloria about 9:00pm Saturday Night.

We left Sunday heading home to Jackson after lunch, we had Abe's Bar B Que for lunch before we left heading home. We had a FANTASTIC WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
